Two days can work very well when the programme follows the natural rhythm of the city rather than repeatedly moving between the hotel, ghats and old city.

The evening Aarti is arranged from a balcony when available for the best overall view, or through Sankalp participation for guests who want a closer spiritual experience. The following morning, we combine the sunrise boat with the old-city walk and temple approach in one continuous sequence.

DAY 01

Arrival — Old City Introduction & Evening Ganga Aarti

Arrive at Varanasi Airport or Varanasi Railway Station and transfer privately to your hotel. After time to settle, meet your guide for an easy introduction to the old city and riverfront. Walk through selected bazaar lanes before approaching Dashashwamedh Ghat for the evening ceremony. Our preferred arrangement is an elevated balcony viewpoint, which gives a clear view of the complete formation of priests, or Sankalp Aarti participation for guests who want to sit closer and take part in the ritual. Reserved chair seating is a useful comfort option. Boat viewing is arranged only when specifically preferred because boats can be farther from the priests and views can be blocked by other boats.

DAY 02

Sunrise Boat — Manikarnika — Chowk Markets — Kashi Vishwanath — Sarnath — Departure

Leave before sunrise for a private motor-boat ride of around one hour on the Ganges. Continue towards Manikarnika Ghat, where your guide explains Varanasi's beliefs around death and liberation sensitively; this section is optional and is omitted for guests who do not wish to experience the cremation area. Continue on foot through the Chowk flower market, traditional perfume market and Kachori Gali before reaching the Kashi Vishwanath Temple area. Optional official skip-the-line darshan / Sugam-style assistance can be arranged where the official facility and temple procedures permit. Walk back to the agreed vehicle point and return to the hotel for breakfast and rest.

Later visit selected cultural sights such as Sankat Mochan Temple, Tulsi Manas Temple, BHU & New Vishwanath Temple before driving to Sarnath. Visit Dhamek Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa and Mulagandha Kuti Vihara; the Archaeological Museum is included when open. After sightseeing, return to Varanasi and proceed by private vehicle to Varanasi Airport or Varanasi Railway Station according to your onward flight or train timing. If your departure is the following day, return to the hotel instead.

Guests staying at BrijRama Palace, Guleria Kothi or Taj Ganges Avantika use the hotels' jetty at Namo Ghat. The hotels provide complimentary boat transfers for arrival and departure from Namo Ghat as part of the hotel booking package. Our road vehicle therefore takes the guest to Namo Ghat and the hotel manages the final river transfer.

Why the morning is kept continuous

The boat, riverfront, Chowk markets and Kashi Vishwanath all sit naturally in one sequence. Returning to the hotel immediately after the boat and later driving back into the old city wastes time and repeats the difficult access section. We therefore finish the old-city walk first, meet the vehicle afterwards, and only then return for breakfast.

Cremation ghats are living ritual spaces. We explain them sensitively, discourage intrusive photography and omit the visit completely when it does not suit the guest.

Nearby temples should stay in the same outing. If Annapurna or Vishalakshi are added for a guest with a devotional interest, we normally combine them with Kashi Vishwanath rather than returning to the same old-city zone on another day. This reduces repeated walking, access checks and traffic.

Questions travellers often ask

Is two days enough for Varanasi?

Yes for a first introduction, particularly when Day 1 has enough usable time for the old city and evening Aarti. Travellers who want food walks, silk weaving, music or a slower pace should consider three days.

Is balcony viewing better than a boat for Aarti?

For most guests, yes. A balcony gives a stable elevated view of the complete ceremony and keeps you closer to the sound and atmosphere. Boat viewing gives a beautiful river perspective, but several rows of boats can form and the view may be obstructed.

Can we skip Manikarnika Ghat?

Absolutely. It is included only for travellers who are comfortable learning about the cremation traditions and beliefs around liberation in Varanasi.

Where does the tour finish?

The itinerary finishes with a private transfer to Varanasi Airport or Varanasi Railway Station according to the booked onward journey. We adjust the later sightseeing around the actual departure time rather than risk a rushed transfer.
