Journey introduction

A private journey with time to enjoy each place.

A private journey joining Varanasi and Sarnath with Bodh Gaya’s Buddhist heritage and the sacred confluence at Prayagraj.

We adjust the order around road or rail timing and the opening hours of Buddhist sites. Travel days are kept realistic rather than filled with extra sightseeing.

Arrive Varanasi — Old City & Ganga Aarti — Tour Varanasi
DAY 01

Arrive Varanasi — Old City & Ganga Aarti

After arrival and hotel check-in, meet your guide for a gentle introduction to old Varanasi. Walk through selected market lanes towards the river, pausing to understand the neighbourhoods and everyday religious life along the way. Finish at the evening Ganga Aarti from an arranged viewing point and keep the remainder of the evening free, especially after a long flight or train journey.

Sightseeing: Northern Bazaar, old-city lanes, Dashashwamedh Ghat and evening Ganga Aarti

Overnight: Varanasi

Sunrise Varanasi & Sarnath — Tour Varanasi
DAY 02

Sunrise Varanasi & Sarnath

Start before sunrise with a private boat along the ghats, followed by a short walk and a return to the hotel for breakfast and rest. Continue with selected sacred and cultural Varanasi before travelling to Sarnath in the afternoon. Your guide will focus on the places that best explain the site’s Buddhist significance rather than turning the visit into a rushed monument circuit.

Sightseeing: Private sunrise boat, Kashi Vishwanath where appropriate, BHU & New Vishwanath Temple, Bharat Mata Temple, Dhamek Stupa and Mulagandha Kuti Vihara

Overnight: Varanasi

Varanasi → Bodh Gaya — Tour Varanasi
DAY 03

Varanasi → Bodh Gaya

Leave Varanasi after breakfast for the private road journey to Bodh Gaya, with comfort stops as required. On arrival, check in and keep the remainder of the day light. If timing and energy are good, an evening visit to the Mahabodhi Temple can be included, when the illuminated complex and chanting create a very different atmosphere from the daytime visit.

Sightseeing: Private drive to Bodh Gaya and optional evening Mahabodhi Temple visit

Overnight: Bodh Gaya

Bodh Gaya — Tour Varanasi
DAY 04

Bodh Gaya

Spend the day at the principal Buddhist sites of Bodh Gaya. Begin at the Mahabodhi Temple and Bodhi Tree, then visit the Great Buddha Statue and selected international monasteries chosen around your interests. Sujata Village or the Dungeshwari Cave Temples can be added for travellers who want a wider historical context, provided the additional driving and walking are comfortable for the group.

Sightseeing: Mahabodhi Temple, Bodhi Tree, Great Buddha Statue, selected monasteries, optional Sujata Village and Dungeshwari Cave Temples

Overnight: Bodh Gaya

Bodh Gaya → Prayagraj — Tour Varanasi
DAY 05

Bodh Gaya → Prayagraj

After breakfast, travel by private vehicle to Prayagraj. This is a substantial road day, so we keep the programme realistic and allow proper comfort stops rather than adding a long sightseeing list on arrival. Depending on your arrival time, take an evening walk or simply settle into the hotel so the following morning at the Sangam can begin comfortably.

Sightseeing: Private road journey to Prayagraj; light evening programme if arrival time permits

Overnight: Prayagraj

Prayagraj & Departure — Tour Varanasi
DAY 06

Prayagraj & Departure

Begin with the Triveni Sangam, reached by local boat when operating, where the Ganga, Yamuna and traditionally understood Saraswati meet. Continue to selected city sights according to your onward timing, then transfer privately to the airport or railway station. The final programme is deliberately flexible so the departure never feels rushed.

Sightseeing: Triveni Sangam, Bade Hanuman Ji, Anand Bhavan, Alopi Devi or Khusro Bagh according to timing and interest

Overnight: Departure from Prayagraj

Good to know

Site opening hours, road conditions and rail schedules can change. We confirm the latest timings before travel and keep long driving days realistic.

Cremation grounds are living ritual spaces, not spectacles. Our guides explain their cultural context sensitively and discourage intrusive photography.
